Abstract: Coronary magnetic resonance imaging is a powerful non-invasive technique for the combined assessment of coronary artery anatomy and function. In the present review article, challenges in coronary artery imaging are discussed and results obtained in both healthy volunteers and patients with cardiovascular disease are presented. This includes a short overview of coronary artery vessel lumen and wall imaging, contrast agents, permeability of the coronary vessel wall, high-field imaging and imaging of endothelial function.
