Japan's National Hospital Organization (NHO), a Designated Public
Corporation specified in the Disaster Countermeasure Basic Act, promptly responded
to the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake by mobilizing medical teams from NHO
hospitals nationwide. This report describes the activities conducted by NHO and
lessons learnt for better preparedness and response in the future.
