The field of nanotechnology has generated great enthusiasm in recent years. The development of
reliable, eco-friendly process for the synthesis of nano scale materials is an important aspect of nanotechnology. In this
context a wide range of biological organisms such as bacteria, actinomycetes, algae, fungus etc. were listed for the
development of clean, nontoxic and environmentally acceptable “green chemistry” procedure. This review covers a
brief overview of the worldwide research efforts on the use of fungus in the biosynthesis of inorganic nanoparticles.
